About direct cremation and price lists
What a direct cremation price list is
A General Price List, or GPL, is the written list of prices a funeral home keeps.
The funeral home must give you a GPL to keep when you visit.
The GPL lists each item and service the home offers, and what each one costs.
This site reads the line that a provider's own price list calls direct cremation.
Your rights under the FTC Funeral Rule
A funeral director must give you prices by phone if you ask.
You do not have to give your name, address or phone number first.
No state or local law requires a casket for cremation.
A home that offers cremation must tell you that alternative containers are available.
You may choose direct cremation, which does not require embalming.
Prices online
Homes are not required to post prices online, and some do.
Because of this, some providers have no price list on their site, and they do not appear here with a price.
